I removed what looked like a boss from each yoke but perhaps was only excess casting and the yokes were added to the poles.
I have built up a personal collection of miniature figurines. Starting with commercially available kits, the collection was gradually built up to represent various aspects of military subjects and now, includes many other unique figures which represent cultural subjects, all sculpted from epoxy putty, plastic and metal over wire armatures. This blog will record the curation of this diverse and evolving collection.

Chariots
I finally got hold of two chariots from Irregular Miniatures - Celtic and Egyptian. Now busy assembling the castings.
Master at arms
I don't believe that I have ever posted this piece before. It represents a Maitre d'armes, French Army, Napoleonic era. The illustration was taken from a Knotel painting. This was made a long time ago from some Historex spares. The glove is from the Airfix Cuirassier kit. The quilted armour was sculpted from putty. I may retouch this piece in the near future.
Heian Palace Guard 16
I went back to this piece after a long absence and carefully repainted the deer, especially the white spots which were well demarcated on the real thing. I then signed off the piece on the base.
JB 17
I painted the horse with dark brown/black, leaving some areas for white markings. The horse ears and tail will be added later to minimise breakage.

Mauryan War Elephant 8
As the figure poses are being finalised, the elephant was mounted on a low base and all the pieces were test-fitted. The lance was made from brass tubing. The figures are being detailed with ornaments and some jewellery.
Xerxes I (4)
I added more flowing drapery to the robe. I used, as reference, a reconstruction from the book Achaemenid Persian Armyy by Duncan Head, Montvert Pub, 1992. This has an illustration showing how the square piece of robe was worn and tied with a belt to fold the excess flaps forward at the thighs. Both flaps are modelled on this revamped figure. I carved away as much of the previous green putty (which was Kneadatite) and replaced this with A&B putty.

JB 15
After studying pictures of the man, I also reshaped his head and hair. This is a picture of work in progress.
71st Highlander Piper 4
I started to painted the figure, since I wanted to add the bagpipes to the front which would have impeded the painting of the lace and buttons.

New Russian castings
I bought these Russian made figures and they represent various periods. The anatomy and detail is generally very good. The size of these figures are at least 60mm in height. Some I will paint and others I intend to use for conversions.

Xerxes I
I first made this figure more than 30 years ago. Except for the head and hands, the whole figure was sculpted from epoxy putty. Reference for the pose was a wall frieze. Four views of the figure is given here for my own reference as I intend to repaint the whole piece.
I probably can improve on this figure so have started to do minor refurbishment. Some putty added to the right shoulder and left sleeve.

ECW Drummer 9
I cleaned up the figure here and there. Then started to paint the drum. The figure was also painted to highlight more imperfections.
