The dancing skirt was rolled out from epoxy putty. The putty was placed between two plastic sheets and rolled thin. After allowing it to cure for about 45 min, the skirt was trimmed to shape and fitted onto the figure. This was then draped over the bicycle frame and allowed to harden. The component parts of this piece are disassembled for display.
I have built up a personal collection of miniature figurines. Starting with commercially available kits, the collection was gradually built up to represent various aspects of military subjects and now, includes many other unique figures which represent cultural subjects, all sculpted from epoxy putty, plastic and metal over wire armatures. This blog will record the curation of this diverse and evolving collection.

Beneito Catholic King and Queen 9
Having trimmed the height of the Queen figure, some minor repairs were made to the gown. The height of the Book stand also had to be trimmed. I snipped off the cloth covered base and am resculpting a new base from putty. The queen's left hand has to be aligned with the rest of the figure.
WWI Collection
I was dusting off my figures and came across these five pieces which form my modest WWI thematic collection. I have decided to take all round photos to show some of the other details which may be missed in the usual front shots.
The Lawrence of Arabia figure is from Andrea Miniatures. The rest are completely scratchbuilt using some kit components and ordnance from commercial kits.

Imrie-Risley AWI Boy Drummer 7
I added a twig to represent a tree, finalised the detailed painting and weathering on the base. Some grass was added. I may further add more foliage later but this piece is finished for now.
Sarum 71st Highlander Officer 5
I noticed that the cuffs were a bit short. I decided to lengthen the cuffs by about 2 mm and broadened the sleeves as well.
Napoleon III and Eugenie 7
The Napoleon figure is satisfactorily completed except for minor details. I am now refurbishing the Eugenie figure.

Singapore Girl
Many years back, I had made a master and castings of the Singapore Airlines stewardess carrying the iconic Louis Vuitton bag. Some were given away to friends as gifts. I only have these two pieces for keepsake.
PNG Cyclist 8
After resculpting and adding some details to the figure, a wire insert was made between his legs to his seat for firm attachment to the bicycle. The stomach was enlarged to represent some form of malnourishment condition. The drum was carved with some design and the pig posture was readjusted.
Ethiopian Rider 7
The figure was adjusted to seat on the pony. The pose leaning forward is to depict the pony on an upward incline.
Imrie-Risley AWI Boy Drummer 6
A base was created with a paved footpath, made by embedding small bricks into the groundwork. The fence was made from basswood.

The Courtship of Paris and Helen
This famous art history painting was by Jacques-Louis David.
If you remember, I had sculpted the main elements many years ago but then had left the project aside in one of my earliest blogs.
Recently, I managed to locate the two figures, the bed and the four statues in the background. My foray into box dioramas has been largely based on flat figures. However, I decided that it was about time to do a small diorama in 3-D.
I built a simple box with sufficient depth based on a suitable sized Ikea picture frame. Then I created an interior with forced perspectives to accomodate the main elements of this piece.
