I finally made further progress on this piece, having satisfied myself with the final form of the horse. The ears were redone and several rounds of carving and sanding were made on this horse. Separately I've also had to resculpt the saddle seat which will be shown later.

The horse was sprayed with a white undercoat and painted with Payne's Grey.

An Airfix conversion

I found this abandoned conversion made a few years back. The figure was based on the old Airfix 54mm Coldstream Guardsman figure. I have decided to remodel the piece based on a nice illustration in Ian Fletcher's book "Bloody Albuera". The figure was cut up awaiting further work.

Manchu noble 6

A decision to represent the costume of a noble instead of the emperor was made, hence the base colour is now brown. In addition, the costume will be a winter gown and a new headdress will be made for this figure.

The headdress will be based on examples similar to this picture:

some Britains recasts

I made up missing arms and weapons for a couple of recast figures. These are completed now and will form part of a lager ceremonial set.

Vintage larger scale figures

I rediscovered these two oldies in my cupboard. One is of a Mongol chieftain and the other is of Wild Bill Hickok,  both 90mm.

The first is a Barton Miniature. The proportions of this figure are not satisfying to my eyes, being too tall and thin. The figure isn't sufficiently squat enough. In addition, the equipment and accoutrements look rather basic and I might convert this piece. I will need to strip the paint off first.

The second piece is an Almond sculpture, very nicely proportioned and detailed.

Manchu Emperor 5

I decided to completely redo this piece again. The headdress was removed and the face was resculted again. The body was sawn in half and about half a cm was removed from the mid section.
