I resculpted the nose, added ears and more hair.

Portuguese Drummer 4

Looking at the striding pose, it seems to resemble the previous Louis XIV drummer's pose. So I changed this pose slightly, to suggest more forward movement. I've removed the hands for ease of manipulation.

Mongol saddle

I found this poor resin cast of a 54mm saddle and am repairing it for a project. Mongol saddles had high pommels and cantles, giving a raised seat to the rider.

Portuguese Drummer 3

I built up the headdress with a busby bag. This looks like a mirliton with a turned-up round peak in front. Feathers were added. The feathers were pinned to the hat for strength. I added wire hands and inserted drummer hands. The calves were built up and I started to sculpt the rest of the tunic in stages.

This shows the short coat tails added. I carved into the tunic waist on the left side to create a pull-in effect with the drum sling.  Note the basic sandals. Note the large ornamental cord end on the busby bag.

Edging and collar added to the front of the tunic.

The coat tails were covered with putty.

The facings were sculpted in.

The face has been reworked. The waist coat and tunic facing outline have been sculpted. I added a strip of sheet metal for the belt. The back of the tunic has been faired to the coat tails.

The figure is test-fitted to the horse. The horse shabraque has been re-shaped.

Joseph Bonaparte seems to have an elongated face. To create a better likeness, I built up the forehead and dome and added hair. I added the sash with putty

The buttocks have been bulked up.

I resculpted two ears, and defined the waistcoat outline.
