Tradition Henry VIII 6

After I had painted the face, it looked a little too large. I then decided to reshape the face and resculpted a smaller outline. The bows and additional costume details on the back were sculpted in.

Napoleon III and Eugenie 4

More hair was added to the sides. The bow and waist sash ends were sculpted. The epaulettes and fringe were sculpted.

Errors were corrected and filed away. Eagle ornaments were added to the turnbacks.

The shoes were corrected and heels added. The figure was carefully filed to be free standing. Some bulk was added to the upper trousers.

Napoleon III and Eugenie 3

The right arm was readjusted to fit closer to the shoulder. The coattails and turnbacks were sculpted over the Historex parts. Note that these are fuller than the Napoleonic coattails. Following a reshaping of the coattails, the turnbacks were added and flattened onto the coattails. When hardened, these were filed smooth and thinner. Buttons were added. The base was snipped away and the shoes are being rebuilt.

I tidied up on the figure and started to paint the face.

I didn't like the fringe, sanded it smooth and redid the fringe.

Napoleon III and Eugenie 2

The arms were sawn off and removed from the Napoleon figure. The back details of the turnbacks and bow were also filed away. Putty was added to thicken the torso and also to build up the trousers.

 Turnbacks were added from Historex spares and the arms were reattached. The sash was widened.

The last picture shows that the right arm which looks odd will have to be reattached. The left epaulette is being sculpted.

The face was completed. I then decided that the right hand holding up the edge of the robe was unsightly and the folds did not look right. The right hand was sawn away (with difficulty) and a new fur edge on the robe was resculpted. The folds are being reshaped.
