Louis XVI

Now painting another Mokarex figure. These range of cheap plastic figures have great sculpts and are easily overlooked by many collectors. I like them because they are molded in hard polystyrene which to date has never deteriorated, provide a sound foundation for European history and plenty of painting practice.

To offset the white costume, I have added some purple into the mix. when dry, I brushed on iridescent white to create a sheen.

Hussar Royaux

From the time of Louis XIV, the French started to employ loose bands of Hungarian hussars to act as scouts and to harass the enemy. This figure represents one unit which was fully incorporated into the French Army.

The Hussars were typified by their unique dress with lace braiding and buttons and long gaiters worn over their trousers. In addition, they wore and also covered their saddles with animal pelts (usually wolves) and officers would have bear and exotic large cat skins.

An earlier figure was made more than 20 years ago. I have decided to make a new version of this figure to represent an officer wearing both a dolman and pelisse.
This new figure was created from converted parts.

Ethiopian Rider 8

Just picked up this figure again. The legs were lengthened and the seat of the rider was adjusted.
