Drum Major Senot

I have decided to refurbish this early conversion which was made mostly from Historex bits with a resin head and converted baton, Senot was a very tall and elegant looking man. I think that the neck of the figure is too short and the face does not really represent Senot. The hands are also not very well-modelled. It suffers from comparison with another similar Drum Major figure of the 9th Ligne.

So the head and hands were cut off and resculpted.

This old piece was made about 30 years ago from an old Phoenix Miniatures set. I had placed the piece onto a round wooden base painted bright red. In retrospect, that was a terrible idea and I've decided to rebase the piece and touch it up.

Here is the piece glued onto a new base. Some simple retouching is in progress.

The figure was mounted onto a base for ease of handling.

The shading was heightened to create contrast to the white costume. Final details were later added to the costume.

I broke the left arm to sculpt the face properly. The drum with sculpted cords has been given a brown undercoat to highlight any defects.
