Some shadows were added to the figure.
I have built up a personal collection of miniature figurines. Starting with commercially available kits, the collection was gradually built up to represent various aspects of military subjects and now, includes many other unique figures which represent cultural subjects, all sculpted from epoxy putty, plastic and metal over wire armatures. This blog will record the curation of this diverse and evolving collection.

Luo Warrior 14
Starting on this piece again. The surface imperfections were sanded down. I found a picture of a nicely spotted cattle and will repaint it accordingly.
Dragon GI Ardennes
I had modified this 1/35 figure and added 1/32 items from Airfix to create the impression of a short US soldier of WWII. Found it again and decided to complete the painting.
Celt standard bearer
Another metal kit I found. This was an out of production kit from TimeMachines Miniatures. I studied the pose and have decided to change some aspects of it.

Philip II of Spain 2
I had retouched this piece in June last year.
I noticed that the details of the left upper hose could be seen through the black cloak. Hence this feature was painted into the figure.

ArchDuke Albert of the Spanish Netherlands 5
The upper hose has been painted. I also added some mars brown to darken the baton and leather boots. Awaiting for the paint to dry to shade the figure.

Mokarex Cantiniere 3
I picked up the figure again and resolved to complete the sculpting over a couple of days.
This is to represent a cantiniere of the Voltigeurs of the Guard. The trousers were bulked up from behind. The hat and hair was remodelled. The tunic lapels and sleeve cuffs and frills were modelled. The frilly waistcoat was also resculpted. Rows of buttons were added and the sling for the rum cask and shoulder tabs were added. Finally, the plume was added to the hat.
The figure was sprayed with matt white and the basic undercoat painting has started.

Started to paint the embroidery on the trousers. I noted that Duke Albert had brown hair and the black armour was fully covered in gilt.
I decided to repaint the figure substantially and also to substitute the moulded baton. A hole was drilled into the right hand to insert in a longer metal rod to represent the wooden baton.

Cheshire Militia Bass Drummer 13
As this is a recruiting scene, I searched for militia posters of the era. These were then printed out and stuck onto wooden billboards. The billboards were attached to the fence and the gate post. I then added foliage to the back of the base.
The dog was glued to the scene and the whole scene was painted. I then added the drummer to the scene.
