Final Pics.
I have built up a personal collection of miniature figurines. Starting with commercially available kits, the collection was gradually built up to represent various aspects of military subjects and now, includes many other unique figures which represent cultural subjects, all sculpted from epoxy putty, plastic and metal over wire armatures. This blog will record the curation of this diverse and evolving collection.

Cafe Storme Maximilien Robespierre
The architect of terror. This most wicked of men has been brilliantly captured in this casting. I had painted it more than 20 years ago and decided to repaint it completely. I especially wanted to paint him wearing a brown coat with stripes as he was depicted in a famous painting. I also wanted to practise more on painting white breeches.
Henry IV Le Cimier
I had painted this piece more than 20 years ago. I have decided to refurbish it and rebase it together with my other figure of his wife Marie de Medici at a later stage.
The blue colour has been overpainted.
Cafe Storme Princess Morny
Another great solid plastic casting. A minor dignitary of Russian origin, she was a beauty and there are several portraits of her on the internet. I decided to add a rose to her hair.
Cafe Storme Empress Eugenie
this is a magnificent single solid plastic casting.
Many of the figures in this range suffer from a wasp-waisted appearance. This is apparent when the figure is seen from the side. I decided to build up the torso at the back to rectify this.
A portrait of the Empress also shows a handkerchief draped over her hair at the back.
The right hand looked slightly awkward. I decided to substitute another hand for this.

NHD PLO Bagpiper 6
More work in progress shots.
The eyes were resculpted.
The face was painted.
A strip of sheet metal was added to the pipes. Following this, a length of copper wire was wound around the pipes. The tassels at the end were carefully drilled to insert the wires.
Back shot showing that the bagpipe trimmings have been painted.

Here's a Russian casting> i was not satisfied with the head and substituted an Airfix ECW head. The helmet was carefully sculpted to represent a Viking helmet.

PNG Cyclist 14
I picked up this piece again and after scrapping off the imperfections and making small repairs, I added some brass etch foliage to the figure.
Antoine LaSalle standing
This old Historex piece made in 1992 is being refurbished.
The first few pics show the figure in its present state.
It was transferred to a smaller base.Gaps were filled in between the trousers and arms with putty.

Luo Warrior 18
I attached the shield to the figure and started to drill holes in the head dress. The tips of downy white feathers were snipped off and inserted with glue into these holes.

Marshal Gouvion St Cyr 2
A wire was drilled into the helmet and the new tuft was sculpted around this wire. The detached plume was reattached with a wire insert.
The figure was mounted onto a smaller base. St Cyr was known to be a good musician and often brought his violin with him on campaign. I decided to add a violin to the figure. A violin bow as made from wire and also added to the figure. The arms were resculpted to fit this new pose.

Marshal Gouvion St Cyr
This was a Historex figure made in 1993. It has a detached plume and a missing tuft on the helmet. The figure is to be refurbished and given a new base.
