When I tried to add sculpted nails to the flag staff, the moisture from the water needed to smoothen the putty destroyed the paper flag. The piece was set aside until I had figured a way to overcome this problem.

Finally I have  decided to make the flag out of thin copper sheet. A piece of the same size flag was cut out and rolled out flat to remove any kinks. The edge to encircle the staff was gently rounded and rolled around the staff tightly. The staff was pulled out and re-epoxied into position. Excess epoxy was wiped off.

Nails were sculpted along the flag staff.

The figure itself was further refined.

I layer of sculpted fur was added to the new areas. The piece was spray painted in matt white.

Marie Medici is also being touched up. Here are the two pieces on separate bases. I intend to place them together on one base.

Tibetan Bass Drummer 15

I repainted the face and the uniform was given a lighter shade. The belt and drum straps were painted. The drum was then epoxied and the figure was also fixed to its base. Drum stick pads were added. Finished.

The unusual sling for the bass drum was what drew me to this figure. I think that I have captured the national characteristics of the Tibetan soldier here.

I removed the head and legs. The legs were substituted with two Historex legs.

I removed the drum to resculpt the lower jaw and mouth.

Yellow Ochre and white was used to create the gilt decorations on the uniform.
