The groundwork was reworked. The figre was repositioned. The cross itself was disassembled. The length was shortened and small nails were used to attach the beams together.. The step was moved higher as per the cruel Roman practice of breaking the leg bones of the crucified victims by placing them in an awkward position to stand upon to increase their agony. The cross was painted in light brown with grey highlights.
