French Foreign Legion Kettledrummer

I had first made this figure many years ago. This was a conversion featuring a Verlinden French officer mounted onto a Historex horse with kettledrums. Over the years, the matt varnish as yellowed and I've decided to refurbish this piece.

I think that the proportions are pretty good. The base is too large and plain for the mounted figure. The bits are not correctly attached and the right leg is slightly longer than the left leg. The throat plume could be spruced up and generally, the trousers could be improved. I could add minor details such as the fetlocks and so on as I go along.
