I have been making up a lot of wooden bases. To create interest, the wood has been stressed and chipped away and I have also added thin wood veneers to some of the surfaces. Some staining was done and the bases were varnished, sanded and revarnished.
One of these bases have been used to pose the cyclist in dramatic fashion careening down a steep slope, hence the lack of wheel spokes. A groundwork was created with putty over the top of the wooden base. When set, a groove was cut into the groundwork to emplace the cyclist which was glued into place. More groundwork was scattered over the groove.
