The references came from another Blandford book. Those illustrations were terrific, although somewhat short of detail in comparison to what one can get nowadays. However, they did give a great overall feel and range of period uniforms at an affordable price.
A Lousiana Wheat's Tiger Zouave charging through a wheatfield and a negro soldier milking a goat was selected as a pairing. Heads and hands were sourced from Airfix or other commercial parts, and the muskets were from the Napoleonic era. The goat was a toy figure.
I also made several figures from the Boxer Rebellion but only this Royal Marines Officer has survived. All Airfix parts except for the Helmet which was from Chota Sahib.
A couple of uncompleted figures - A Royal Marine soldier and a proposed Tientsin volunteer. I used two types of epoxy putty - Milliput and Duro. Sometimes I mixed the two types.
