I have built up a personal collection of miniature figurines. Starting with commercially available kits, the collection was gradually built up to represent various aspects of military subjects and now, includes many other unique figures which represent cultural subjects, all sculpted from epoxy putty, plastic and metal over wire armatures. This blog will record the curation of this diverse and evolving collection.

Royal Marine
Using a reference from the Blandford book on WWII uniforms, I made a Royal Marine figure about to embark for duty. The helmet was taken from a Tamiya DAK figure set and everything else was modified from either Airfix, Britains or Tamiya parts. Putty was liquid plastic. The duffel bag was made from putty. As can be seen, this was a hybrid toy soldier - model miniature style, inspired by Roy Dilley with his numerous conversions using commercial figures. Hard and soft plastic was used here.
Around this time, I also created a 12 piece set of WWII personalities including Winston Churchill (head from a Tamiya Japanese soldier), Bomber Ted Harris, Marshal Goering (head from Airfix Black Watch with a cap from Tamiya), as well as others, all made from liquid plastic. This set was bought by a collector.
